Oil for a dog is weaker on purpose
Strengths for animals run from 3% to 10% rather than 5% to 30%: a weaker bottle puts less cannabidiol in each drop, so the amount changes in smaller steps. How many drops follows the maker's label and a conversation with a vet.
No THC where that is possible
For animals a broad spectrum or an isolate is chosen — an extract with no detectable THC. Full spectrum carries traces of THC, which makes the batch report all the more important. The spectrum is printed on the label.
Paw balm reads like a cream, not like an oil: the milligrams are for the whole tin. It goes on the skin rather than into the food, and its carrier is not a food.
Frequently asked questions
What strength for a dog?
From 3% to 10% — lower than oils for people. A weaker bottle puts less cannabidiol in a drop, so the amount changes in small steps. How many drops follows the maker's label; if in doubt, ask a vet.
Can a human oil be used for a dog?
Two things differ: the strength and the spectrum. Human bottles are stronger, and full spectrum carries traces of THC. For animals a broad spectrum or isolate at a low strength is the one to pick.
CBD oil or hemp oil for dogs?
Hemp seed oil is a food oil with practically no cannabidiol; CBD oil for dogs contains cannabidiol in stated milligrams. If the ingredients show no “cannabidiol” or “CBD” with a figure, the product is not CBD oil.
How is the oil given?
With the pipette, onto the food or straight into the mouth. Shake the bottle before measuring: without it the first drops are weaker than the last.
Is there a report for animal products?
Yes, for every batch, with the same cannabinoid profile as the human products. The batch number on the label is the one on the report, and the report shows the measured THC — the figure that tells you whether an extract is broad spectrum.
Is there CBD oil for cats?
This shelf is put together for dogs. Whether a product also suits cats is for the maker's label to say; if it does not, ask a vet before giving it.
